Benefits of Sustainable Construction
The primary benefit of sustainable construction is through reduced energy costs and a reduction of raw materials used, but also from a more comfortable and far healthier living environment, reduced overall living expenses, fewer repairs and maintenance, higher resale values as well as a better place to leave our children and grandchildren. This is evident as we can and will lesson our impact on natural resources to help provide for the needs of others. We have a lot of room for improvement as homes and buildings in the world consume more than 40 percent of the total energy use, 40 percent of the raw materials consumed, 60 percent of the world’s electricity and 50 percent of the world’s CO2 output.

There are many styles and construction materials and methods for green energy efficient building techniques depending on location and setting. You would not build an Earth Ship in a densely developed urban neighborhood even if code allowed it, nor would you want to build a two story structure out in the country. There are also many different materials utilized for building envelopes that have advantages and disadvantages in different settings. Different types of structures also have various advantages in different climates and locations. There are principles that apply to each as well as thermal dynamics of various construction materials and the availability and acceptance of these materials and building practices per code that must be considered when building new structures in different locations. The cost of land, the highest and best use thereof and the cost and availability of energy and utility services must also be considered. Thus there is no “one formula fits all” approach to the multi-dimensional building environment. However, as noted, there are energy efficient construction methods suitable to every unique environment with each one providing benefits to the occupant as well as the environment.

Let us put our experience to work for you to create the ultimate sustainable living environment.
